Why is it a bad idea to share social and vacation plans online?

  1. It's always tempting to let everyone know when you're about to go on vacation or head to a big party. However, posting details about vacations, parties or other social plans on the Web, especially if your profile is open to the public, is not advisable. For one thing, letting strangers know when you won't be home is dangerous -- by posting the dates of your vacation, you could invite someone to break into your home while you're away. It can also be rather insensitive to post party plans where people who were not invited to the event can see them.
