  1. Snow can be harmful under a number of circumstances. If the temperature rises quickly after a deep snowfall, dangerous and damaging floods can result. Sudden flooding can cause loss of life to humans, plants and animals. Any size snowfall can leave ice and snow on streets that create dangerous driving conditions. Heavy snowfalls can cause trees to fall and bring down power lines. In mountainous areas, avalanches can wipe out entire communities.
