  1. From the tiniest insect to the largest mammal, every animal is affected by the bright glow of light pollution. If owls hunt more, their prey's habits change to cope; this in turn affects their prey. Birds often use stars to guide them, but city lights can confuse the birds' navigation.

    Migration and reproduction can be thrown off course; insects and amphibians may experience changes in their life cycles. Animals may experience behavioral changes, or a difference in their activity levels. The effect of light pollution on the animal kingdom ultimately affects the entire ecosystem.
