Given the continuing evolution of driverless technology, robot cars eventually will become a reality. Current technologies such as cruise control and self-parking will aid sophisticated automated vehicle systems, giving future vehicles the ability to drive human passengers along automated highways. Developers such as Google and General Motors continue to test technologies and prototypes in advance of eventual public availability.
