Hives are itchy, irritated, raised skin rashes that are often caused by allergies. The essential oils chamomile and lavender have soothing aromas and can help bring the itching to a halt. Chamomile is more effective at relieving itchiness, but it's also more expensive - - a cheaper alternative is lavender oil.
For an aromatherapy-based treatment for hives, first try washing the skin with a hives skin wash, consisting of a combination of five drops of chamomile (or 10 drops of lavender oil), two drops of peppermint oil, three tablespoons (about 44 milliliters) of baking soda and two cups of water. If that doesn't offer complete relief, apply a poultice of hives paste to the skin, consisting of a mixture of 1/4 cup (about 60 milliliters) of the hives skin wash and three tablespoons (about 44 milliliters) of bentonite clay. Wash off after 45 minutes, and there should be noticeable relief.
