The Beat Generation was most famous for its collection of American poets such as Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. These poets took a lot of inspiration from jazz music. Specifically, they incorporated the spontaneity and free-form expressiveness of jazz music. They also used a rhythmic beat (hence, Beat Generation) taken from jazz to create a musical quality in their poetry. In particular, they used the syncopated style of emphasizing the off beat of a rhythm as they read their poetry aloud.
