  1. The Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) is used by tractor trailers to make sure their tires have enough air pressure. When a tire's pressure gets too low, the MTIS takes air from an air supply and routes it through the axle to the correct tire. Each tire has a one-way check valve that only lets air into the tires, which means that while one tire is being filled, another tire won't lose pressure.
