After 15 years of development, NASA's humanoid robot Robonaut 2 was slated to blast into space aboard the space shuttle Discovery in November 2010. Remotely controlled from inside the shuttle, Robonaut 2 works alongside human astronauts on space walks. The machine's humanlike arms, dexterous hands and soft grips allow it to tackle the sort of delicate work normally reserved for humans.
