Yes. If you reduce an element to nanoparticles, you may find that it behaves very differently than it does in larger forms. Elements that normally are poor conductors may become excellent conductors once reduced to the size of a nanoparticle. But not all changes are positive -- it's possible for some elements to become toxic at the nanoscale. Because of these unexpected changes, scientists have to be cautious while studying elements and designing new nanotechnology approaches.
