No! During a lightning storm, there is always a chance of a stray bolt striking a telephone pole. If this occurs, the electricity from the bolt will travel to every phone directly connected to the phone line. If you happen to be holding the phone when this happens, the lightning can even jump to you, resulting in severe injury and even death. However, cordless phones and cellular phones have no direct line, which means they are considerably safer to use during a storm. If you must make a phone call, use one of those instead.
