  1. There are actually two ways of interacting directly with other Twitter users. The first is a simple private message, which you type and send directly to a specific user without having to involve anyone else. Private messages work like e-mail. The second method is even simpler. To tweet directly to another user but still allow other users to read your message, simply preface your post with "@" and the username of the person you're trying to contact. Doing so will let that user know that you're either replying to or talking about him or her, which will allow the dialogue to continue.
