  1. It seems ironic that the demographic that can be most susceptible to loneliness is the one most unlikely to use modern technology to stay in touch. But some older folks shy away from applications and gadgets that those who are younger consider to be second nature. Facebook, for example, is often used to share news and information with family members and friends. Similarly, a group of friends can be reached at the same time via Twitter, which can also be used to make last-minute plans. Older folks also tend to miss out on cell phone use for staying in touch. Using one or more of these technologies could help them feel less alone.
