  1. A site-to-site VPN connects many of an organization's fixed sites over the Internet. This connection happens because of a site-to-site VPN's use of dedicated equipment and large-scale encryption. Intranet-based site-to-site VPN is for companies that want to connect one or more remote locations in one private network LAN-to-LAN. If a business is in a close relationship with an outside company, such as a supply company, that business may choose to connect LAN-to-LAN with an extranet VPN.
