Some qualities a casting director needs are: good communication skills, negotiation skills, organizational skills (to juggle multiple projects), a good memory (for contact names, script details and the abilities of different actors) and attention to detail. You need patience and persistence, as well as good instincts about whether an actor is right for a part. Casting director is also one of the few occupations in the entertainment field dominated by women.
