Today, tai chi is used more for health reasons than as a martial art. It can be practiced with minimal space and no equipment. It is gentle, so people of any age or in almost any condition can practice it. It's especially good for the cardiovascular fitness, balance and flexibility of older people. The combination of tai chi's fluid movements, breathing and meditation relieves the organs from damage caused by stress and poor posture and provides an increased sense of awareness and calmness. Tai chi may also contribute to improved immune systems, circulation, blood pressure, sleep and mental health.
