    TRANSCRIPT:

I am so glad you asked about that. I don't know if you're familiar with the STEAM movement. Everyone is pretty familiar with the STEM movement. So the STEAM movement, that 'A' is for "art," and how do you integrate the arts with science, technology, engineering and mathematics?

So many people assume that because we're a math/science/technology magnet that the arts have gone to the wayside. It's the opposite. Our children have theater; they have visual arts; they have dance. And we go to outside organizations. We just established a partnership with Inner City Arts where our children will go to an art space to learn photography and ceramics.

And that cycles back, because when the children are participating in engineering activities, the notion of design and creativity that you learn in art comes into play when they're in their engineering units of study.
