The Seattle development was burned by people identifying themselves as eco-terrorists because its location posed a threat to nearby wetlands and a stream in the area populated by an endangered species of salmon. According to the FBI, domestic eco-terrorism -- the commission of violent acts for political and environmental reasons -- is a serious threat to the United States [source: Fox News]. Eco-terrorist acts are sometimes known as "ecotage." Those who commit ecotage are "ecoteurs."
