John Healy Director of Strategic Marketing, Intel’s Embedded and Communications Group
TRANSCRIPT:
A quest to understand things in a way that I haven't done before. Why is it the way it is? How could it be done differently? Could it be better, could it be worse? It is driving the desire to have a better understanding and a better insight and a better knowledge. In many ways, it is a form of education, driving this constant quest to understand things more.
-
Lori Matassa Platform Software Architect, Intel
TRANSCRIPT:
I think I just really like to understand. I really like to understand how things work. I like to listen to know that there's something about me, something around me, but I want to understand how it can be improved, or how I can use it in another way, or at least know how to use it the way it should be used. You know, to maybe master it or do something more with it. Anything -- there's so much that we don't know, and you're like a sponge, and you want to absorb it. It doesn't even mean that you might go out and change it, but there's just something about the need to acquire the understanding.
-
Mic Bowman Principal Engineer, Intel Labs
TRANSCRIPT:
As a technologist, its things like, "How will the dramatic increases that we see in technology and the improvements of technology affect how we interact with each other?" Our work involves a lot of bringing deeper interaction to people and understanding how we can get from the computing environment we have today, which is very much focused on us as individuals, to a computing environment that brings us together and enables us to break down those social barriers as well.
That itch in the back of my head is, "How can we make this happen? How can we bring people together through the technology that we're developing?"

Anya Kamenetz Author, Fast Company Writer, Educational Futurist
Terentius, the philosopher, said that, “I’m human. Nothing human is alien to me.” And, for me, I’m just curious about other human beings. I’m curious about what keeps us going on this planet, what’s going to happen in the future. That’s what keeps me getting up every day.
-
James L. Green Director, Planetary Science Division, National Aeronautics and Space Administration
TRANSCRIPT:
Well I'm curious, actually, about a lot of things. The real thrill of discovery is an element of that, the ability to recognize something and put it in its context. It's really about achieving a deeper understanding of a particular topic. That's what's fun about being alive: the ability to do science, the ability to understand where we are in the universe, the ability to go after really big questions, like "Are we alone?", "Can life exist off our planet?" and "If it does, where and how and what is it?" Oh, that's pretty spectacular stuff.
-
Michael Weber Performer and Deceptive Practices Co-founder
TRANSCRIPT:
Looking for new connections between things that I haven't seen before. I'm often more curious about things that become suddenly obvious to us where we ask ourselves the question, "Why haven't I seen that before? Why haven't I thought of that before? Why hasn't someone done that before?"
-
Peter H. Diamandis Chairman/CEO, X PRIZE Foundation
TRANSCRIPT:
I have a need to put the universe in some structured order for there to be purpose, and the drive I have to find that order and to find purpose in things drives my curiosity. It makes me curious. Since we live in a chaotic, crazy world, I'm curious about almost everything.
-
Brenda Way Founder and Artistic Director, Oberlin Dance Collective
TRANSCRIPT:
I don't think I know what makes me curious. I think that's a human trait. I think if you haven't been closed off and shut down, that the world is an endless source of new information. And I think it's human to go after it.
