The Producers Guild of America, the association for TV and film producers, differentiates between executive producers for televisions series and TV movies ("long-form television"). There are also executive producers for other types of programs, such as the news. The executive producer of a television series is responsible for all the creative and business aspects of the production process, and is also responsible for the financing of the series. He or she may also be among the writers of the show.
