  1. Before postmodern society evolved into what it is today, many industrial and agrarian cultures put a premium on strength and stamina, something men tend to possess in greater amounts than women. Many people believe this physiological fact relates to why men were often in charge in those societies and in earlier primitive social structures.

    For example, perhaps skilled prehistoric hunters were rewarded for their hunting prowess by being given the right to determine where the tribe should migrate as it followed herds throughout their annual ranges. Taking on one leadership role could have then led to others, as good decisions benefited the rest of the group.
